Definitions

Camino Barcelona Spanish Language School shall be referred to as ‘The school’ this point onwards. 'The student' is the person in whose name the booking is made.

This Agreement

This agreement is legally binding once the school has received a completed enrolment form from the student, whether on-line or in writing. If the booking is made by telephone, the agreement is legally binding once the booking details have been taken by the school and once the necessary payment (deposit or full payment) has been received by the school. The laws of Spain shall apply to this agreement

Changes made to bookings by the student

Students may, at the discretion of the school, change details of their reservation or postpone their start date, provided that the school receives written notice of this from the student at least 28 days before the start of the course. It is not possible to amend or postpone a course after the date on which a student is due to move into their accommodation or start their course. Amendments and postponements are subject to a 40 EUR charge. However, the school may withdraw this charge, if the changes or postponement result in the extension or upgrading of a course or accommodation.

Other changes to bookings

If a student is unable to attend the course they have reserved because they are found not to have the appropriate language level after completing the initial level test, we will offer an alternative course, or private lessons. The number of private lessons may be fewer than the group course booked. The school endeavors to ensure that our students receive the service and products that they book. We cannot, however, take responsibility for disruptions to courses resulting from forces out of our control (such as natural disasters, strikes, terrorist attacks, civil disorder or the outbreak of war).

Lessons lost as a result of the above causes will not be recovered or refunds given.

Missed lessons and activities

There will be no classes on public holidays. Therefore, if a public holiday falls on a day or days during which a student is attending a course, they can expect to not receive lessons on that day. Lessons may be missed due to level testing and initiation activities on the first day of a course. Lessons may also be lost at the end of a course due to evaluation tests.

There will be no recuperation or refund of classes missed for the above reasons, unless otherwise stated.

Activities and Excursions

Information about activities and excursions offered by the school should only be used as a guide and not as an accurate list of events. Please contact us prior to booking if you require specific information about any of our activities.

Cancellation by the Student

If this agreement is cancelled by a student, the following provisions apply: Cancellation must be made in writing to the school office. The day that notification is received in writing by the school office is the official cancellation day and the cancellation provisions laid out below will apply.

All cancellations incur a loss of deposit. In addition, the following charges apply and are payable to the school by the student:

Cancellation up to 28 days before the start of the course: loss of deposit only.
Cancellation between 27 and 21 days before the start of the course: loss of deposit, 25% of the remaining cost of the course, plus the €65 enrolment fee and the first 2 weeks of accommodation.
Cancellation between 20 and 14 days before the start of the course: loss of deposit, 50% of the remaining cost of the course, plus the €65 enrolment fee and the first 2 weeks of accommodation
Cancellation between 0 and 13 days before the start of the course: loss of deposit, 100% of the remaining cost of the course, plus the €65 enrolment fee and the first 2 weeks of accommodation.
No refund shall be given after the day that the course is due to start.

If a new booking is made in place of the cancelled course, the school may, at their sole discretion, withdraw certain cancellation charges.

Travel, Transfers and Visas

Students must make their own travel arrangements and are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, such as a valid passport and visa. The school will supply the necessary documentation for students to obtain a visa, but are not responsible for a Consular authority's decision whether or not to issue a visa. It is the student's responsibility to allow sufficient time to obtain a visa and they should check with the Consular authority regarding how long this is likely to take.

If a student asks the school to send documentation to them by courier service/express delivery (not e-mail or normal mail), the student will be charged for the cost of this express delivery/courier service.

If a student is unable to attend a course due to being unable to obtain a visa, the school will normally refund any fees paid, less the deposit and the €65 enrolment fee, provided that the student can prove that they have been denied the visa due to reasons not within their control (allowing enough time for the application and completing the application correctly are considered the responsibility of the student) and providing that the school is notified of this in writing no later than 2 weeks before the course is due to start. Otherwise, normal cancellation fees will apply.

If documentation is denied due to reasons within the student's control (such as the student not possessing a valid passport, or other necessary documentation or not allowing sufficient time for the visa to be issued), the standard cancellation fees will apply.

Airport Transfers

The school can arrange airport transfers, at a cost of €75 euros one-way, from Barcelona International Airport to the student’s accommodation. However, the school must receive payment from the student for this service, together with full details of the student’s arrival time and flight number no later than 7 days before a student is due to arrive. If the school does not receive these flight details within 7 days before the predicted date for the arrival of the student, the school is not responsible for the student being met at the airport and the airport transfer fee will not be refunded.

Our expectations

Students, and those accompanying students, are expected to behave in a courteous manner and to respect fellow students and staff at our school, as well as to those with whom they share their accommodation. The illegal use of drugs, alcohol abuse or inconsiderate or offensive behavior towards others is considered unacceptable. The school reserves the right to withhold courses and school accommodation from any student violating school regulations or generally behaving in an inconsiderate or offensive manner towards others. The school reserves the right to terminate the course and remove from accommodation, any student violating the terms of this article. In such circumstances, no refund will be paid for the course or for the accommodation.

Although every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in our literature and websites is accurate, the school does not accept responsibility for printing/translating errors or omissions. We therefore ask that you discuss with us any details which are of particular importance to you before you make your booking.
